AFTER THE DREAM to return to The Floral after rave reviews

Despite the rain, the tour of Hand in Hand Theatre's After the Dream has been received with rapturous applause and complimentary feedback.

One audience member declared; "the best play I have ever seen" ... another said, "it made me laugh - it made me cry - brilliant!"

Although performances at Ness Gardens and Royden Park were rained off and performed indoors instead, the audiences were full of praise for the superb cast and clever script.

Reviews have been unanimous in their appreciation:

"Alan Ayckbourn meets Shakespeare" RSC Openstages

".....a clever and witty piece of drama with a particularly fine Act 2 in which history repeats itself and characters show their true feelings - the final duologues are riveting played with warmth, humour and a moving reality. And like the original Dream you want to know what will happen to the characters - perhaps there is a third play there? After the Dream will grow in confidence and the magic will increase in an outdoor setting when the natural light will add its own enchantment. Let's hope the weather is kind because this is a lovely way to spend an evening."

What's OnStage

"Take some good writing; eight very experienced and talented actors mix them together with an enthusiastic audience: the result will be success. Bev Clark, who wrote and directed, expanded the basic idea of A Midsummer Nights Dream by Shakespeare and whisked-up a recipe for an excellent evening's entertainment."

NODA

"Chemistry oozes between the cast members allowing many strong figures to be built within the tight window and even a cunning twist to boot."

Mancunian Matters online

"I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful play "after the dream", my wife and I were at Ness Gardens last night and loved it. Thank you for sharing your passions, your hard work was greatly appreciated." by email.

" ....just to say how I enjoyed the play. The acting was as good as you could see on the professional stage. Loved the play itself and the way the characters were allowed to move on with independence seen as every bit as valid and fulfilling as long term relationships. You are a talented playwright and this deserves to be seen by as many people as possible. Best of luck with it." by email.
